The UPDRAFT

A warm wind beneath their wings...

“Real change, enduring change, happens one step at a time.”
- Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States

Help us take the next step so that those who need your help may rise into full flight with
"a warm wind beneath their wings..."

The UPDRAFT Supplemental Scholarship Project works to help juveniles, veterans, returning citizens, and their families successfully enter society and achieve higher education to reduce the poverty that leads to poor health, untimely death from drug overdose, crime, recidivism, offense-escalation, street violence, and murder.

We do this through:
- The Effective Social Entry and Professional Development Course
- The Helping Hundred - partnering with businesses and other nonprofits
- TexTo Training - computer and mobile transaction technology training

About Us

Mobirise

The UPDRAFT and its HELPING HUNDRED local business partners who support the new Effective Social Entry course work to help those disconnected or isolated from the community. Veterans, juveniles (12-15), and returning citizens successfully enter society and learn trades or achieve higher education to reduce the poverty that leads to multi-generational poor health, juvenile delinquency, untimely death from drug overdose, domestic violence, street violence, crime, offense-escalation, and recidivism.

Mobirise

The UPDRAFT and its HELPING HUNDRED local business partners encourage new thinking for new solutions. Think of the Effective Social Entry course as a "Braincation" where participants take the time to think deeply about what they want their life outcomes to be, what their Legacy will be, what they will leave to their children and the world.

Our Goal

The UPDRAFT Supplemental Scholarship Project seeks long-term sustainability through grants, sponsorships and endowments from nonprofits, private foundations, family offices, and commercial sources - entities with a desire to:

Mobirise
  • Reduce the number of students who withdraw from high school before graduation.
  • Increase the number of students who are prepared to enter the workforce upon graduation from trade schools and institutions of higher learning.
  • Increase the number of low-income students entering trade schools and  institutions of higher learning.
  • Decrease drug and alcohol use by expanding career opportunities and encouraging higher educational pursuits.
  • Increase individual economic understanding and productivity.
  • Improve the overall quality of life for young Americans and their families.
